Education, Health and Labour

Research in this area examines employers’ practices and their effects on employees’ well-being, health, and job satisfaction. It also explores the role of institutions and public policies (particularly gender quotas) in shaping and perpetuating inequalities, as well as the evaluation of health policies. Finally, it focuses on educational choices and their socioeconomic determinants, along with the efficiency and equity of higher education admission systems.

Public Policy, Institutions and Political Economy

Research in this area investigates the determinants of public perceptions of government policies and the sources of potential public distrust, as well as political opinion polarisation. It also examines how public policies and institutional environments, in turn, shape voters’ preferences and trust, and contribute to redefining social norms. Finally, it explores how these sociopolitical and institutional dynamics interact with the development process.

Money, Finance and Banking Frictions

Research in this area focuses on monetary and financial frictions and their consequences for both individual behaviour and aggregate economic outcomes. It examines the adoption of new currencies, credit and liquidity constraints, dollarisation, and the long-term effects of monetary policy on employment and well-being. It also investigates asset pricing in the presence of market frictions and uses experimental approaches to analyse behavioural anomalies related to money and inflation.

The research group includes the following researchers:
